Parents of ASD kids have found that correcting a variety of nutrient deficiencies greatly helps their children's behavior.

Here is what we recommend based on the Defeat Autism Now (DAN!) practitioners and guidelines:

ASDplex powder or capsules-
1 teaspoon twice daily or 6 caps three times daily (also see Dr. Smoothie beverage to mix it into)

Arctic Cod Liver Oil by Nordic Naturals-
2 teaspoons per day with meals or mixed into smoothie

Also possibly quite helpful for language/verbal skills and attention span is DMG Liquid 10-20 drops daily

The above are good starting points for supplements. If he has gastrointestinal problems, I would recommend the _blank>HLC High Potency powder and some antifungals from his doctor.

Your doctor can also prescribe Methyl B12 shots which have been found to be very helpful.  Ideally, you should work with a DAN practitioner either in person or by phone since they can best asses which supplements or medications are helpful.

Have you attended the Autism conferences?  I encourage you to check out http://www.autismwebsite.com/ari/dan/dan.htm which has a list of great autism doctors and a link to the conference details. The DAN conferences are filled with great information.
